Testing Report Vallelunga, August 06-08

After some rather intense weeks of preparation of the brand new cars we could finally embark upon the testing program. With temps of up to 35 degrees conditions were far from ideal.

For this 3-day test 5 drivers were invited. Negotiations with the drivers hadn't been finalised yet and so this test could also help them in their efforts of trying to persuade their potential sponsors to go with them into this very promising new series.

-Nico Verdonck

Nico is of course an old acquaintance of the team. Born and raised in Brussels he would fit perfectly into the picture for Anderlecht. (Anderlecht is part of the city of Brussels)

-Giacomo Ricci

Another old acquaintance and with his recent GP2-experience and knowledge of the circuit of Vallelunga our best hope of quickly making progress with car set up.

-Kasper Andersen

Kasper is a young, talented Danish driver and very intrested in SF.

-Andreas Wirth

Andreas got most of his racing experience in the US in F. Atlantic and even ChampCars.

-Tuka Rocha

With Tuka we are in final negotations for the Flamengo-car. Tuak is also an old acquaintance (Spa Euro F3000 '06)

Wed. 6 Aug.

For the first shake down runs the cars were entrusted to Ricci (Flamengo) and Andersen (Anderlecht). Without any real problems the engineers quickly were into set up work. Ricci ended the day 4/10 off Robert Doornbos.

Thur. 7 Aug.

Tuka Rocha took over for Flamengo whilst Nico could do his laps for Anderlecht.

Everything was going fine untill the Anderlecht-car suddenly caught fire at the beginning of the pit straight. Nico came away unscathed but it did mean the end of the testing for the Anderlecht-car.

After some extra checks on the Flamengo-car this was able to continue testing without any problem.

Fri. 8 Aug.

Tuka did a couple more runs in the morning and the engineers were happy with what they've learned so far.

For the first race in Donington there will be a different tire specification and also temps in England are likely to be a little less ...
