A1 GRAND PRIX - 01.12.2007
Team China: Round 3 - Sepang (Malaysia)

Another fine result - eventually

Free practice

Frankie seemed to be right on the pace on Friday.  Unfortunately a 'sticky throttle' problem developed during the last session on Friday.  A lot of effort was put into trying to find the reason for this but unfortunately the same problem reoccured in the free practice session on Saturday morning.

Qualifying

So as there wasn't enough time to change the engine we had to go into qualifying with this prolblem which was clearly costing us time and so the overall result was a somewhat disappointing P8 and P9 for the sprint race and feauture race. In the end, Zytek owed up to the fact that it was an engine problem and the engine was changed overnight.
On the other hand we can say though that it is very encouraging for everyone involved in A1 Team China that we're now genuinely disappointed to qualify P8.

Sprint race

A very spectacular start to the race as always at Sepang (due to the lay-out of the circuit) in which Frankie also got hit be it without real damage to the car.
A couple of laps into the race Frankie made a mistake defending his position and spun out of the race.

Feature race

Another very hectic start with a lot of incidents which somehow Frankie managed to escape and he was able to continue the race in P11.  He then set about putting in really quick lap times and catching some opponents and 2 very quick pit stops resulted in P5 at the end.  This was afterwards changed to P4 after  the disqualification of Germany.

So in the end another great result and we're all now really looking forward to our first home race at Zhuhai where we'll be aiming for the podium.
